Another jumper post?? really?...
I picked up this jumper in the New Look sale last weekend and thought funnily enough even though I wasn't trying this would be good for covering up the brace (annoying that after I have actually stopped wearing the brace I seem to find things I can actually wear with it!). Fluffy, plain and simple. It's not overly baggy but still gives enough room to cover up awkward lumps and bumps. Chuck on some jeans/jeggings and boots and your good to go.
I can't seem to find it on the website anymore but last week in the store they had loads on the racks so you might still be able to find it - shame I can't get you a better picture though apart from this pathetic attempt at photography ;)
Anyway you get the idea - another jumper, another look :)

The Classic Denim Shirt...
Something that has rarely been out of style for the past few years is the denim shirt and this new year appears to be no exception. Pretty much every shop I have been into this year has had its own version. And what's great about this is 1. they are easy to wear with the Boston brace 2. they look nice and suit a lot of people 3. they are really comfy PLUS versatile to wear!
I bought a denim shirt in my first year of Uni three years ago and this weekend I finally accepted that it had been worn enough (it was starting to look pretty worn out!) and I went and purchased a new one. Mine was from New Look (see the image below) and picked it up for £16.99 as part of there new spring/summer 2013 collection. The one I purchased is fitted but roomy enough to still be worn with the brace underneath (size up for extra room against bumps of the brace!). However I also found the denim shirt above which is from River Island for a slightly more expensive £22. What I really love about this shirt (and is really hard to describe) is that at the back it has the material slightly 'pinched together' so that if falls in slight folds down the back. This is a great tip to try and find tops that do this for drawing attention away from the straps at the back of the brace and skimming over them instead of emphasizing them.
For extra comfort I would pull on a pair of thick knit leggings (see my post here on them!) or just play safe with black leggings. Another option is a pair of coloured jeans which are popular at the moment. Even a high waisted skirt could look good with them as well. Basically what is nice about them is they go with soo many things and are really comfy to wear. Just please on a last note the one thing I would advise against is wearing them with is blue denim jeans on the bottom half! ( I tried on my shirt in the changing room whilst wearing my jeans and I don't know about you but it's really not a look I can pull off!).

Happy New Year!
A slightly belated happy new year! I love the new year as a chance to reflect on the past and what the future might hold for me! Last year was incredible, to graduate, go travelling around Thailand for a month and then be lucky enough to get back to England and almost immediately start a new job which I am loving. This next year holds much more aswell - hopefully moving out of my parents house once and for all, and to start a masters course in a brand new city (fingers crossed!!).
In terms of the blog, hopefully I will get better and better at writing and designing posts. Hopefully at some point it will get a major redesign as I'm still not 100% happy with the layout and so much needs to be improved!! I want to carry on to raise some awareness in any way I can about scoliosis and try and reach out to people that went through some of the experiences that I did.
So all in all, best wishes to everyone in 2013! I have a feeling it's going to be a good one :)

Under the brace....
Hi I hope everyone who celebrated it had a lovely xmas holiday. I thought my post today should be looking at the best things to wear underneath the boston brace. Here are a few pointers that might help:
- The brace can get really hot and sweaty so the best things to wear underneath are not man made materials but materials that are going to 'breathe', so I used to wear cotton vests which felt cooler than things made from polyester.
- It's a lot of layers once you have your under vest, a strap top/vest over the top of the brace to hide it and then a jumper or top over the top of that!! To reduce layers I wore either vests with spaghetti straps (so very thin straps) or even boob tube tops with no straps at all.
- The boston brace doesn't come up too high and cover your chest area so your chest and shoulders are something that you can show off (rather than the stomach which always is covered!). So it can be annoying to have a vest top showing when you wear v neck tops/jumpers. Something I did was to fold the vest or boob tube back over the brace itself if you see what I mean? So your still wearing the vest and brace but the vest isn't covering up your chest area so it doesn't look like you are wearing an under vest. As you won't be wearing very tight things anyway because of the brace you won't be able to see any lumps and bumps from folding the strap top down over the top of the brace.
- I will do a seperate post on bras but one tip is to just not wear underwired bras, they are so uncomfortable and the brace pushes the wire so it digs into you. You can get really nice non-underwired bras nowadays even for bigger boobs so will post separately on where to find later on. To be honest you won't be doing much running around in a brace anyway (unless you want to boil!) so it's not like your boobs will be moving around that much!
If anyone has anymore tips on what to wear under the brace let me know and I will post! This was one of the hardest things for me so in the future I will be doing more posts on where to buy this stuff!
P.S I found this picture of the boston brace on the internet which looks like mine apart from it seems to be completely covering her bum! Did anyone else's come this low?? Mine came up quite high on the back! Looks like hers needs a trim off the back!

Happy Christmas!!
Would be very happy to just experiment with this all day!! Thanks Santa!!
I know a lot of people who wear a Boston brace are tempted to ditch it for xmas, but honestly I found since it's just a family day probably just spent at home relaxing I just wore it - if you need a day off (naughty!!) keep it for a day where you are going to be out and about and busy!!
Right i'm off to do my make up, open some more pressies and tuck into a hugeeeee xmas dinner!
Merry Christmas everyone!
